RESIDENCE LEAGUE

Alice, Eastern Cape – The University of Fort Hare (UFH) Residence League is set to resume in full force after the upcoming semester break, with both netball and football competitions continuing to generate excitement among students. The league, which brings together teams from various residences across both the Alice and East London campuses, has become a highlight of student life, fostering a sense of community and healthy competition.

With teams eager to return to action, the second phase of the league promises even more intense matches as the season progresses. The netball and football teams have already showcased their talent in earlier fixtures, with many looking forward to vying for top honors in the final stages of the competition. The break has given teams a chance to regroup and prepare for the upcoming fixtures, with players keen to continue their quest for residence pride.

"The Residence League has always been a great way to bring students together and promote a spirit of sportsmanship," said Mr Mphompho from the league’s organizing committee. "We are excited to see the competition heat up as we head into the latter part of the season."

In addition to the continuation of the Residence League, the organizing committee has announced plans for an upcoming Dean's Tournament, set to take place later in the year. The tournament, which will be hosted in collaboration with the Dean of Students, will see both the Alice and East London campuses compete in a variety of sports. This new initiative is aimed at further promoting inter-campus camaraderie and competition.

Details of the Dean's Tournament are still being finalized, with an official date yet to be announced. However, it is expected to draw significant interest from students on both campuses, as it will provide an opportunity for some of the best athletes from the Residence League to showcase their skills on a larger stage.
