UFH ACERS TENNIS TEAM ARE GEARING UP FOR THE UPCOMING USSAS IN DECEMBER
University of Fort Hare Acers Tennis Team Prepares for High-Stakes USSA Tournament
Alice, Eastern Cape – The University of Fort Hare (UFH) Acers Tennis Team is gearing up for one of the biggest sporting events of the year as they prepare to compete in the highly anticipated University Sport South Africa (USSA) tournament this December. The prestigious event, which brings together top tennis talent from universities across the country, is set to test the resilience, skills, and determination of the UFH Acers, who have had limited court time this year.
With only two matches played throughout the year, the Acers have faced a challenging season. Nevertheless, the team has shown remarkable commitment and perseverance in their preparation for the USSA tournament. “It has been a tough year with fewer matches, but the team has worked hard to make the most of the opportunities we've had,” said team captain, . “Now, we are focusing all our energy on ensuring we perform our best in December.”
Despite the lack of match exposure, the Acers have spent significant time in intensive training sessions, sharpening their strategies and fitness levels. Head coach, remains optimistic about the team’s chances. “Our preparation may not have been ideal in terms of competitive play, but the players have shown incredible discipline in training. We’ve been working on both the mental and physical aspects of the game to ensure we’re ready for the challenge.”
The upcoming USSA tournament will be a major milestone for the UFH Acers, especially as they look to make an impact against more experienced teams with a full season of matches under their belts. The tournament will also provide the Acers with an opportunity to showcase their growth and potential as a rising tennis team at the national level.
